​Doctors:

 

Richard S. Meirs, VMD is a 1982 graduate from the Veterinary School at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation he became an associate of Walnridge Equine Clinic alongside his father, Dr. David A. Meirs, II. He grew up closely involved in the Standardbred racehorse industry, and with the Standardbred breeding farm and equine clinic that his father had founded. Today Dr. Meirs is the the Director ofWalnridge Equine Clinic P.C., and General Manager of Walnridge Farm, Inc. Dr. Meirs’ primary focus in practice is reproductive work with with both stallions and mares, as well as elective surgical procedures, such as arthroscopic surgery, foal orthopedic surgery and upper airway procedures. Dr. Meirs enjoys golfing and hunting when he has a moment away from the farm and clinic.

 

 


 

 

Bruce N. Barnes, VMD is a native of New Jersey who grew up working on his family farm and caring for his family horses.  He earned an undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and, in 1990, his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  As a general practitioner with Walnridge since 1991, Dr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his clients and working with horses of all breeds and disciplines, but focuses mostly on Reproduction.  Dr. Barnes is a Past President of the New Jersey Equine Practitioners Association and has served on the Executive Board of the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association.  When not working, Dr. Barnes enjoys spending time with his family and doing outdoor sports and activities.

 

 

 

 



 

Alyssa Struzyna, VMD grew up in Philadelphia, PA, surrounded by animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian from a young age.  She earned her undergraduate degree at Skidmore College in biology and her Veterinary Medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  She completed a competitive, rotating internship at Rhinebeck Equine in NY before coming to Walnridge.  Her interests include reproduction, neonatal care and general ambulatory medicine.  She currently lives with her husband and their dog Tessie in Hamilton.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Technicians:

 

Pam is a veterinary technician and our lovely administrative assistant. She has been at Walnridge since 2000 and loves working with horses.  In her spare time, she enjoys trail riding with her horse "T" and spending time with family and friends.

Simone is one of our wonderful veterinary technicians.  She obtained her bachelor of science in Large Animal Science from Delaware Valley College and has been working at Walnridge since 2011. Her favorite time of the year is the spring when all the foals are born.
